Bandwidth Monitoring and Reporting
Distinct ReportBuilder builds a number of different bandwidth Utilization reports that allow you to view bandwidth usage on your network from different angles. Bandwidth Utilization reports are based on the calculation of data that is passed from one side of the link you wish to measure to the other side. Measurements are based on the sampling that was taken when the specific network capture was taken. Samples are taken every 75 seconds unless otherwise modified and do not account for any traffic that was specifically filtered out using filters.
For the purposes of these reports, Bandwidth is defined as the aggregated data, for the selected protocols, that is transferred from one side of the bandwidth link to the other. These reports are intended to give a general picture of bandwidth usage on various network segments over specific time periods
The default bandwidth reports that can be run all include graphs showing the total bandwidth used, in addition to the usage by specific systems or ports requested.
The picture above, generated using the Report Builder, shows the bandwidth utilization by the systems with the highest IP traffic. You can also choose to report on specific systems only, specific protocol traffic and the types of traffic you want included (e.g. broadcast or multicast only).
For detailed traffic figures for each IP address and talking pairs see detailed IP traffic and talking pairs report.
